Usually when you think of theme park food you think of overpriced turkey legs and tasteless burgers. When I visited Animal Kingdom I stumbled upon one of the bests restaurants I have visited in Orlando theme parks. Yak & Yeti is all authentic in a constant theme of fake constructed architecture made to look real and original. All of their gorgeous décor and furniture are apparently straight from Asia, a kind hostess informed us.
It felt like you were in Asia. The second floor offered more intimate and cozy seating. With large windows overlooking the gorgeous trees and the rest of the “Asia” side of the park.
First we ordered the appetizer dim sum with shrimp, pork and chicken dim sum with a soy lime dipping sauce. We also ordered the Malaysian seafood curry and the ahi tuna salad.
The seafood curry was plentiful. With lots of mahi mahi, scallops, clams, mussels, shrimp and veggies like tomatoes and zucchini, all in a warm red curry coconut broth with jasmine rice.
The ahi tuna salad was also very good in its own right. On a very large bed of mixed greens, with blackened and seared ahi tuna. They drizzled on top some spicy wasabi aioli, and tossed in a delicious ginger dressing, topped with crispy wonton strips.
Yak & Yeti may be a little pricey, but remember that you are inside a theme park. On the plus side, their portions are large and a dish can be easily split between a pair. Everyone needs to visit this place when in Animal Kingdom! Highly recommended!
Until next bite!
